Christmas!

Hi, everybody!  Hope you all had a great Christmas!  We sure did!  It was so much fun just hanging out with all the family!
We went sleding, watched movies, ate food and a whole lot more.   Christmas morning was great!  Does everyone like my new hat and coat?  Grandpa's party went super too!  He loved all the cards and e-mails!  And we had great trips there and back.  The snow and ice was really bad!  Mom missed Grandpa and Grandma's house once, cause they live on the bottom of a hill.  Uncle Troy's car sliped down the driveway when evryone was inside!  But it cleared just in time for our trip home. Christmas Tradition

Well, let me share with you a few Baker Family traditions that happen at Christmas decorating time at our house. I am doing this mainly to document for myself, but also to say traditions are fun, but sometimes overwhelming to keep up with. :)
1. We alway get a real tree. Every other year we swap between my preference and Trent's. I like a cheap tree-Menards. Trent likes to create a memory-go cut down our own tree. This year was my year, so here we are at menards. I try to make this a memorable experience also.

2. Trent always saws off the bottom of the tree and we write the year on the bottom and save these stumps. This tradition was started by Micah.
3. The putting on of the star is a huge deal in the Baker Family. We always struggle to remember whose year it is for dad to lift up to do the place and light the star. We do always video this event, but we got no snapshot this year to share with you.
4. Ornaments. This is one of the traditions I do stress a little over. I started when Micah was one to make an ornament with their pictures on it each year or buy one that holds pictures. I am failing miserably, but we still try. I think we missed at least two years in a row while I was pregnant with Levi.
5. A picture of the kids in front of the tree which is always displayed as an 8x10 each year.
6. And the latest "usual" is to all sleep in the living room the night we put up our tree. Fun, but I always end up in my bed before the night is over.

Wow, and that is just our decorating traditions. I think they are fun and I think they are exhausting! So remember, be careful when you think up traditions.

This year the kid's great grandmother joined us for the evening. She is a blessing!

We survived!

The Baker Family survived the first full week of school!  God is good and we did it this year with no tears or me feeling that I may need to be heavily medicated for a while in order to get through the beginnings.  We actually are all enjoying the year.  We made a few curriculum changes that we have enjoyed and Levi provides us good comic relief when needed.  This year Micah and Lydia surprised me with quite the first day of school outfits...

Bakers Summer count-down

Well, I must apologize for our lack of blogging lately. We have been playing, playing, and playing these last 2 weeks of summer and have had no time for blogging.
Our summer has been great starting with a trip to Grandpa and Grandma Bendickson's to see Uncle Troy's Choir perform. A 4-night stay at Platte River State Park
with just our family. Camp!!! Bowling lots of mornings with friends. (thanks Hollywood bowl for free bowling cards!) Trip to the Lincoln Zoo with some of the
Baker family. A few times of food and fun with our small group! Different parks on Tuesdays with friends from church! Another quick trip to Iowa to see the whole Uncle
Troy Bendickson family! Watching the olympics! The beautiful Phelps wedding! As you can see, we have had a wonderful summer. We are blessed and thankful for all we
have gotten to do.
Now, here is a glimpse of the last 2 weeks which are not in our list above....

Train Ride at the zoo!
Baked pies with Grandma Honey!
Star wars birthday party with friends! (Micah-princess Lea, Caleb-Luke, Lydia-Mrs. Vader, and Levi-Yoda
Salt Dogs Baseball game with Grandpa and Grandma Baker!

Children's Museum with Grandma Honey!

Antelope Park!
I say and show all of the above to quickly document our summer and to convince myself (the school teacher)  that it is time for school.  We have enjoyed a full summer and the time has come for routine and to slow down.  God is good!
Adios! Robin

The Zoo!

Here we are at the zoo again!  Our family and aunts, uncle, cousins, grandparents & greatgrandparents. This is a different zoo and different side of the family. As you can see we are with the butterflys. On our way in with the butterflys the workers there squirted gatorade on one of our  fingers  so the butterflys would get on us,  it didn't work super well. We saw lots of other animals and ever since then  levi has been talking about this trip to the zoo & the last trip  to the zoo that we have posted on the blog.TTFN lydia

Riddle from Judy!

Cupcakes!

A few days ago me and my sister Lydia baked some cupcakes for our Hip hop/clogging show.  We were going to enter them in a cupcake contest.  Yesterday we went to Grandma Bakers house and decorated them.  We made them look like two pieces of corn on the cob!  They each had two corn holders, jellybellys for the kernals, melted starbursts for butter and decorating sugar for salt!  Mom and Lydia found the idea in a Family fun magazine.  Lydia, Grandma and I did great!  I hope I can get some pictures of them on here soon!  Later!  Micah

MY HERO

I would just like to tell you how Trent completely made my day this week.  It was Wednesday and by 5:00pm I was going CRAZY.  Levi was sick and cranky (very cranky), my washing machine quit running, my basement was a mess and needed to be cleaned up quick because surely the repair man would be coming tomorrow, I didn't want to pay the repairman, I didn't want to buy new washer, and I was trying to find a quick and yummy way to fix mahi mahi for supper which needed to happen soon.  Do you get the picture?  I was a cranky mess just like Levi.  Well, Trent called and said why don't we do something fun for supper, can I bring home a pizza?  Those words were music to my ears!!  But still, I had the stress of crankipants and my washer.  Then, he came home and while my favorite pizza in the world (Papa Murphy's stuffed) was cooking he went down to the basement and FIXED my washer!!!!!!!   15 minutes and it was up and running.  So, clothes washing, pizza baking, and  Coke in the fridge-I was a very happy camper!!  It may sound very shallow that these things put me in such a great mood, but considering my day and my irrational thoughts as I encountered conflict.... I am sure thankful for my SUPER HERO HUBBY!   Adios! Robin

fun in the mud

Well, it all started in the sprinkler so dad , caleb & I [somtimes levi] played in the sprinkler but there was a leak in the hose and that's were levi played. The water got into some dirt and made it mud . Then levi started to play in the mud, the next thing we know dad , caleb , & I were all playing in it also. While we were doing this mom was out picking up Micah from softball. So we were in the backyard all muddy & dad wanted to get our picture . He was looking over the fence to see if mom was home yet but she wasn't. Finally dad washed off in the freezing water and went inside to get the camera. When he came back outside he took some pictures of us then he got all muddy again but he didn't get his hands muddy. Right then Micah showed up so she took a pic of all of us....Muddy muddy FUN! TTFN lydia

camping out!

Well, the 3 Baker big kids and dad are having quite an adventure right now in our backyard. Earlier today, (Prior to Micah's softball game and Caleb's baseball practice) Trent and the kids set up our tent in the backyard.  You may be wondering why Levi and I are not a part of this mix.  Don't tell Levi, but he is my excuse and I think I can only use him until he is out of his crib.  So, I am planning to keep him in there as long as possible! :)
Anyway, they are having a GREAT time
and they have a GREAT dad!!  We did surprise them and ordered a pizza that I delivered to the back yard at 10pm.  Caleb went crazy when the pizza arrived.  He is his daddy's boy!
Adios!  Robin

Hi everybody!  This picture was taken on a train at the Niabi zoo in Iowa.  You can see Grandma and caleb in the back of the photo, then Me and Kaitlyn and in the front, aunt Tammy and Uncle Troy with Charity and Tori.  It was hot but we had a blast!  We saw this Lion and we got there just in time to hear it roar.  It was amazing!  Micah
