Christmas Tradition

Well, let me share with you a few Baker Family traditions that happen at Christmas decorating time at our house. I am doing this mainly to document for myself, but also to say traditions are fun, but sometimes overwhelming to keep up with. :)
1. We alway get a real tree. Every other year we swap between my preference and Trent's. I like a cheap tree-Menards. Trent likes to create a memory-go cut down our own tree. This year was my year, so here we are at menards. I try to make this a memorable experience also.

2. Trent always saws off the bottom of the tree and we write the year on the bottom and save these stumps. This tradition was started by Micah.
3. The putting on of the star is a huge deal in the Baker Family. We always struggle to remember whose year it is for dad to lift up to do the place and light the star. We do always video this event, but we got no snapshot this year to share with you.
4. Ornaments. This is one of the traditions I do stress a little over. I started when Micah was one to make an ornament with their pictures on it each year or buy one that holds pictures. I am failing miserably, but we still try. I think we missed at least two years in a row while I was pregnant with Levi.
5. A picture of the kids in front of the tree which is always displayed as an 8x10 each year.
6. And the latest "usual" is to all sleep in the living room the night we put up our tree. Fun, but I always end up in my bed before the night is over.

Wow, and that is just our decorating traditions. I think they are fun and I think they are exhausting! So remember, be careful when you think up traditions.

This year the kid's great grandmother joined us for the evening. She is a blessing!

We survived!

The Baker Family survived the first full week of school!  God is good and we did it this year with no tears or me feeling that I may need to be heavily medicated for a while in order to get through the beginnings.  We actually are all enjoying the year.  We made a few curriculum changes that we have enjoyed and Levi provides us good comic relief when needed.  This year Micah and Lydia surprised me with quite the first day of school outfits...

Bakers Summer count-down

Well, I must apologize for our lack of blogging lately. We have been playing, playing, and playing these last 2 weeks of summer and have had no time for blogging.
Our summer has been great starting with a trip to Grandpa and Grandma Bendickson's to see Uncle Troy's Choir perform. A 4-night stay at Platte River State Park
with just our family. Camp!!! Bowling lots of mornings with friends. (thanks Hollywood bowl for free bowling cards!) Trip to the Lincoln Zoo with some of the
Baker family. A few times of food and fun with our small group! Different parks on Tuesdays with friends from church! Another quick trip to Iowa to see the whole Uncle
Troy Bendickson family! Watching the olympics! The beautiful Phelps wedding! As you can see, we have had a wonderful summer. We are blessed and thankful for all we
have gotten to do.
Now, here is a glimpse of the last 2 weeks which are not in our list above....

Train Ride at the zoo!
Baked pies with Grandma Honey!
Star wars birthday party with friends! (Micah-princess Lea, Caleb-Luke, Lydia-Mrs. Vader, and Levi-Yoda
Salt Dogs Baseball game with Grandpa and Grandma Baker!

Children's Museum with Grandma Honey!

Antelope Park!
I say and show all of the above to quickly document our summer and to convince myself (the school teacher)  that it is time for school.  We have enjoyed a full summer and the time has come for routine and to slow down.  God is good!
Adios! Robin

The Zoo!

Here we are at the zoo again!  Our family and aunts, uncle, cousins, grandparents & greatgrandparents. This is a different zoo and different side of the family. As you can see we are with the butterflys. On our way in with the butterflys the workers there squirted gatorade on one of our  fingers  so the butterflys would get on us,  it didn't work super well. We saw lots of other animals and ever since then  levi has been talking about this trip to the zoo & the last trip  to the zoo that we have posted on the blog.TTFN lydia

Riddle from Judy!

Here's a riddle Judy Tuttle sent us, it took us a while to figure it out!  Here's the riddle, What's bigger than God, worse than the devil, Rich people need it and if we eat it we die.  Good luck, please post your guesses!  Later, Micah.
